LO4 Drafting Ideas

Idea 1 - Rolling Snowball

The main objective of the game is to roll down a snowy hill and become a larger and larger snowman, jumping over the obstacles as you go, as you roll further down the hill you become faster and it progressively becomes more difficult. As you go along you will collect snowballs for points and to become larger, also as an extra adjective parts of the snowman's costume will be scattered around the area and you have to collect all the items to get a full costume. The gameplay would work like any other game on the app store / play store, such as Flappy Bird or Hop Hop Hop where you would tap the screen excessively to make the character jump. As this is game meant to be a craze like Flappy Bird, it can be aimed at everyone, but I'd say the main audience is teenagers and young adults.

Ideal 2 - Condiment Clash

This game is a racer but with a twist, the main objective is to of course be the first to cross the finish line after numerous laps, but in this game you will be driving round a kitchen work surface and avoiding all the obstacles and you will driving as a condiment or food! You will be able to drive as convertible ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard bottles, as well as burger buns and fries.. etc. The gameplay would work as any other racing game, you will use the controller analogue stick to turn the car, a certain button to accelerate, brake and reverse and there will also be a button assigned to the drift. There will be power ups that you can collect throughout the levels, and also weapons you can acquire to hinder the other cars, also if you win you would receive experience points and as you level up you can upgrade your cars or buy new ones all together. The main audience for this game is children and young teenagers, the primary purpose for the game is to race against your friends.

Idea 3 - Popularity Contest

This a decision making game such as Until Dawn and Tell tale Games, where your decisions affect the gameplay and also the storyline and conclusion to the game, the main objective in this game is to become popular, you can do this by pleasing the most amount of people and making the most 'popular' decisions, but of course with every decision there comes a draw back, so you have to be careful what decisions you make and who you wrong. The harder decisions you make, the bigger change to the storyline and progression of the game. In class you can choose answers correctly and get good grades or make a joke out of it and become more popular. But you have to have decent grades not to get expelled. You get more popular depending on the people you befriend, each character in the game is ranked in terms of popularity and your goal is to become the most popular. The main audience for this game is teenagers, but more specifically girls aged 10-15.

The hardware for the game would be for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One because of the all the different options in the games, all the different decisions you can make, it would make more sense for the hardware to be for a device with a controller. The analogue stick would be needed for the characters movement and development, as well as the 4 main buttons being used for the 4 different decisions you can make in a given moment. Also with the game being available on the current gen consoles, it would make it easier for the graphics and aesthetics to be more visually appealing and more enjoyable to look at, as it isn't as interesting as action or RPG games. The target audience is for teenagers, but more specifically girls aged 10-15. The game will have a similar art style to Life is Strange.

Idea 4 - Homeward Flame

This game will be a puzzle platformer, that heavily relies on the narrative driving the experience as well as the puzzles and obstacles. The puzzles and obstacles will be the main objective in the game, other than progressing further in the game, throughout the extent of the game the player will become more used to the puzzles in which case the puzzles will get more difficult and we will be able to test their skills more and more each time. The narrative is that when a fire was ignited a single flame got separated from the rest of the group and the narrative of the game is to reunite the flame with its group. The flame will travel across various plains and landscapes, filled with puzzles that the flame will have to pass to travel further onwards. These puzzles will vary extensively, no puzzle will be the same, although some puzzles will have similar aspects so the player can use what they've learnt from previous puzzles and apply it to the next and the next. This isn't a normal puzzle platformer, as the protagonist is a flame, different aspects will be in the game, such as that the flame can ignite certain objects to help complete the puzzle. As seen as you are a single flame separated from your group, fuel is a very prominent issue, there will be gas leaks and oil spillages at the start of every puzzle which will replenish your energy and supply, when your character runs low on energy/fuel they will move slower and take longer to ignite things. There will be a bar that measures how much energy the flame has and how much until it starts running out. As you complete more puzzles with the highest fluency possible you unlock upgrades for the character such as being able to throw flames in a certain direction, split into two flames - these qualities will help with certain puzzles that may be out of bounds otherwise.

I think in terms of target audience this game would have a broad range, male and female ranging from teenagers to young adults. The game will have a similar art style and play style to Limbo, the puzzle concept will be similar to limbo. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox 1 and PC, this make it possible to make the graphics as good as possible, as this will hopefully be one of the main incentives to buy the game.
